Apricot

A classic forum with a happy little modern touch

Apricot public beta coming soon. Follow Announcements for latest info

Remember forums?

Man... what a time. So many niche communities hanging out, making friends, helping people, sharing anything and everything they found even remotely neat. Also like... being able to search for stuff. Unlike discord... where you can barely search a single server and everything else is just lost to the void for the rest of the internet

Apricot is a forum. A proper one. Its got categories, real topics, proper search features, WORKING MODERATION TOOLS. It's also extensible unlike discord. If something doesn't work the way you like, change it! Wish a feature was a thing? Make it a thing

Ok sell me on it

  • Core

    Cute core

A robust core package that puts extensibility at the top of the priority list. Also speed. SPEED IS KEY!!!

  • Themes

    All the Themes

Override one template, or mess up all of them. Even has a baked in minimal style if you choose no theme

  • Posting

    Write stuff

Supports both Markdown AND BBCode. OoOo. Also @mentions, video embeds, spoilers, etc. Or make your own

  • Moderation

    Mod tools

Mods have stuff! Action log, suspend/ban, reporting, approval queues, a tidy bin for soft deletions

    Sign in better

Passwords, passkeys, or hook up your own OIDC for fun. Invite system baked in if you want that

  • Perms

    Groups + perms

Grant stuff per group, then override it per forum for fun. Flexibility is sexy

  • Alerts

    Follow anything

Follow topics or entire forums. Fancy little pings for replies, mentions, and maybe other stuff too

  • Setup

    SQLite

A tidy little local file thats nice and fast. Web based installer too. Setup in like 2 minutes or less

What sets it apart?

- Not a chat app with a bad forum bolted on with string
- Not a weird SaaS subscription ruining your life
- Not harvesting your data or selling you shit you don't want
- Not trying to do and be everything under the sun
- Not built in 2004 and left like that for 20 years

Customise!

  • Themes

Anzu is the official starter theme. There's also Prosilver for that nostalgic goodness. Or make your own?

  • Extensions

Extend away! Private messaging, spam guards, cloud storage, fun stuff you just made up!

Ok gimme!@!!

OooOoOOO... Soon. It's not quite released yet. This entire site is built on Apricot, and I've got a few select people running a pre-release just to double check I didn't screw everything up. But once they confirm stability it'll be out!
